Dr. Maritza Reyes-Laborde
received her BA in English from UPRH in 1981. Three years
later, in 1983, she received a MA in TESOL and a MEd in Applied
Linguistics from Columbia University. She received an EdD
in 1996 from the same institution, majoring in Applied
Linguistics and Bilingual Education. Dr. Reyes-Laborde has
been the director of the McNair Program since 2003 and has also
coordinated the UPRH Honors Program since 1995. She has
worked in different student-oriented projects, such as the
Communicative Competence Centre and the Student Support Services
Program. Dr. Reyes-Laborde has been member of important
institutional committees and is a Full Professor at the English
Department. Maritza is currently pursuing a PhD in
Anglophone Caribbean Linguistics from the University of Puerto
Rico-Rio Piedras Campus. |

Dr. Carlos J. Olivo-Delgado

Dr. Carlos J.
Olivo-Delgado is a certified chemist and assistant professor
of this discipline since 2003 at the Polytechnic University of
Puerto Rico and the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamon.
Carlos is member of the Colegio de Químicos de Puerto Rico and
the American Chemical Society. He coordinates the McNair Program
since its foundation in 2003. Dr. Olivo-Delgado conducts
research in environmental analysis and characterization of water
sources in the Eastern Region of the island. Also, he is
interested in the study of science teaching and the development
of scientific literacy in university students. He received
a BS degree in Chemistry in 2001 and a MS in Environmental
Chemistry in 2003 from Turabo University. He received an
EdD in Science Education from the University of Puerto Rico-Rio
Piedras Campus. He is currently enrolled in the PhD
program of History at the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. |
