Twenty-four students from eighteen universities participated in the 1999
SIMU. Half did research in Gröbner bases under the direction of John B.
Little, College of the Holy Cross and the other half did research in probability
and statistics under the direction of Rudy Guerra, Southern Methodist
University.

Twenty-two of the 1999 SIMU students presented posters on their work at the
SACNAS conference in Portland, OR. Most also will attend the Joint
Mathematics Meetings in Washington, DC in January 2000.
